A Texas man was sentenced to life behind bars for continuously sexually abusing a child with autism.
On Friday, 33-year-old Justin Levi Burns was sentenced to life in prison after he was convicted of sexual abuse of a boy from ages 4 to 6. The child is now 9 years old.
“I applaud the bravery and courage of this 9-year-old child,” Montgomery County District Attorney Brett Ligon said after the trial. “I also commend the efforts of law enforcement, counselors, medical nursing team, and Children Safe Harbor professionals for pulling together to bring justice for this victim.”
“The jury also reinforced that we will believe out children when the selfish desire of a perpetrator steals the innocence of a child,” prosecutor Nancy Hebert added.
Burns will not be eligible for parole.
