A Texas infant died after his father forgot him and his toddler sister in his car while temperatures soared in the South Texas area.
Corpus Christi police say the father drove home with his 4-month-old son and 16-month-old daughter but went inside without them.
Sgt. Marc Harrod says the father remembered the children were still in the car after 40 minutes and called 911.
When police arrived on the scene they found adults performing CPR on an unconscious infant.
The baby was rushed to Corpus Christi hospital where he was pronounced dead.
His 16-month-old sister was treated at the scene and released into the custody of relatives.
Police say they are still investigating the case but have not made any arrests.
The children’s mother was reportedly not home at the time of the incident.
The unidentified infant is believed to be the fifth child in Texas to die after being left in a hot car and the 20th in the country this year.
