An Ohio woman pleaded guilty to child abuse and endangerment after her boyfriend beat her 4-year-old daughter to death in 2013.
On Tuesday, 30-year-old Jessica Lawrence pleaded guilty to a count of child endangerment and permitting child abuse and faces up to six years in prison when she is sentenced.
In November of 2013, Lawrence left her 4-year-old daughter in the care of 30-year-old Michael C. McDaniel while she went to work.
She found the child unresponsive and covered in bruises when she returned but waited three hours before calling 911.
The child died the following day at Nationwide Children’s Hospital after suffering brain bleeding, a broken orbital bone, and multiple bruises.
Lawrence was initially charged with involuntary manslaughter, which the prosecutors dropped in exchange for the guilty plea.
On Monday, McDaniel was sentenced to 20 years in prison after entering an Alford plea to charges of involuntary manslaughter, felonious assault, and child endangerment.
