A Tennessee man was convicted of killing his 3-year-old son and will be sentenced to life in prison.
Prosecutors say 28-year-old Jamie Jones was found guilty of two counts of first-degree murder in the death of 3-year-old Landon Stokes, who passed away in 2013.
Jones is expected to receive life in prison at his sentencing hearing in September.
In January of 2013, Jones brought Landon to a hospital, saying he found the boy at the bottom of the staircase after telling him to wait outside.
The boy was pronounced dead at Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital.
Doctors at the hospital testified that the injuries the child sustained were not consistent with the explanation.
The Shelby County Medical Examiner reported that the boy had 116 external injuries and multiple internal injuries at the time of his death.
