An Oklahoma man accused of killing his girlfriend’s 11-month-old daughter was captured in Kansas by U.S. Marshals on Thursday.
Back in July, Brandon Nordstedt brought his girlfriend’s daughter, Emmy O’Rourke, to a hospital after the girl started to have breathing issues.
Doctors believed the infant’s injuries were suspicious and contacted the police.
Emmy passed away after suffering a traumatic injury to her brain, which caused bleeding.
Police say Nordstedt abused the girl, causing the injuries.
Nordstedt is charged with child abuse murder and is being held without bond.
After Nordstedt was captured, the Emmy’s mother rejoiced, telling a news station that justice was served on the day her daughter would have had her first birthday.
“I said the best birthday present she could have today for us and for my family is for him to be arrested,” Kaci Loud told KJRH. “We were talking about it, and I said all I want is for justice to be served today.”
More than 100 people attended a candle light vigil for Emmy’s birthday on Thursday.
“It’s a good feeling to know I have the whole Owasso community supporting me and my family right now,” Loud said.
