Mom Left Two Toddlers Alone in Car to Go Drinking, Had One Of Them Blow Into Breathalyzer to Start SUV

A Florida woman was charged with child neglect after she left her two toddlers in a car to go drinking and then drove home under the influence after having one her kids blow into the interlock breathalyzer to start the vehicle.

Police arrested 35-year-old April King after the bar manager at Frogger’s in Apopka called 911.

The manager told police that King left her 2- and 4-year-old children in a running SUV while she went inside for drinks. He added that he could see the older child “revving” the car from the driver seat.

Police say when they found King she was slurring her speech and appeared lethargic.

Police say that King turned the car off while talking to officers but had to blow into a breathalyzer to turn it back on.

“April spent a considerable amount of time avoiding blowing, and… (her 4-year-old son) could be seen blowing into the device,” officers wrote in a report. “It looked pretty obvious he knew what he was doing.”
