Medically Ill Father Kills His Autistic Son in a Murder-Suicide out of Fear No One Would Care for Him When He Died

A medically ill father from Michigan was found dead after he murdered his 20-year-old autistic son. He feared for the well-being of his son who had no one to care for him.

John Richett, 58, and his son Nicholas, 20, were found dead in their family home.

“’He feared his medical problems would take his life and then he wouldn’t be around to care for his son and he didn’t want to burden the family,” Police Chief Chad Hayse told Fox.

According to Richett’s neighbor, John Rowe, the troubled father loved his son, but was extremely worried about his son’s ability to live without a guardian.

“I’m just very sad to hear because John was a very nice man,” Rowe told Fox. “I really liked John.”

Richett had two other children and two grandchildren. A funeral will be held for the two on Sunday.
