In a report from The Mirror, a mother identified only as “Anne” shares the story of how her teenage daughter was manipulated by other adults.
It started on Facebook, when her daughter “Elizabeth” was contacted by a woman who knew of her through a “family connection.” After some time, Anne noticed Elizabeth changing as a person. She would skip school, flee the house anytime Anne went to sleep, and was found to be with those other adults, drinking and taking drugs.
Elizabeth said her adult friends were more family than her mother, and even threatened to kill Anne a few times. Anne read through their messages on Facebook, shocked at the emotional manipulation these adults directed at her daughter. They even got her to change her look.
Then Elizabeth vanished for four days. When she was found, she told her mother and the police that she was given drugs and then raped her after she passed out. Police are “investigating,” but no charges have been filed.
Even after this happened, the girl still wanted to see those people. Only with a lot of work from social workers and her mother has she been able to distance herself from them.
